A bold, fruit-forward coffee grown at altitude and honey processed for natural sweetness and depth.

This limited release showcases the black honey process—where beans are dried with a thick layer of fruit still intact, drawing out syrupy body and rich sweetness. It’s a slower, more hands-on method that rewards both grower and drinker with flavour you won’t find in your average cup.

It’s grown by Ian, one of our long-time direct trade partners in West Uganda. Working with Gorilla Summit Coffee, Ian has spent nearly a decade refining his craft, selecting only the best coffee and processing them with care.

There are no middlemen here. This is direct trade done right—built on trust, relationship, and the goal of transforming lives.

Your cup supports more than just flavour.

It helps fund clean water, education, and real change on the ground in Uganda.

Dark and tasty

But not dark as you might think, it's the bitter chocolate cacao notes that trick you into thinking this is roasted quite dark. But it's not, that would loose the fruit notes, and being a mid roast that surprising raspberry is present and correct. Then golden syrup sweetness kicks in. It is an unusual and unique flavour combination.
It works really well as an espresso, using https://recipeseries.coffee/crs/espresso-recipe-61/

Kicking up a notch more is using 15% or 30ml of All Good barista coconut milk. That takes it into Whittakers Coconut block territory, but even better with the raspberry.

As Mr Dilmah would say “do try it”.

Ugandan Black Honey

Really enjoyed this single origin. Although mistakenly thought it was a robusta at first, but nevertheless, rich dark roast full flavor. It is an exceptional coffee with a rich, syrupy sweetness and beautifully layered flavour. The raspberry and cacao notes come through smoothly, balanced by a full body and clean finish. I will definitely try again and recommend it to any coffee snob as a good way to start the day. 😉👌

Bold

I love coffees. To me they are like wines. Different moods require different tastes. The Ugandan Black Honey is earthy and grounding and for me its the perfect afternoon cuppa.

A Sumptuous Sip

I was immediately sold on the description, origins, and roasting process of this coffee and promptly ordered. Within a couple of days it arrived. The aroma was incredible, the colour was dark, like treacle, as was the flavour. The bitterness was balanced by the toffee sweetness of the honey. My only disappointment is that I ordered the small size, rather than the large.
